Berwick, ME -- The YMS 8th Grade Boys Soccer Team downed the Noble Middle School Knights by the score of 4-1 on Friday afternoon. Hard work and perseverance finally paid off for the Wildcats as players were rewarded with goals, assists, and excellent play.
The Wildcats notched one on the board first as Riley B slotted home another perfect penalty kick, giving York the 1-0 lead.
York took a 2-0 lead when Brennan hit a free kick through traffic into the far corner. The stopper took advantage of a lot of legs screening the keeper's vision. Noble brought one back before the end of the half as the Knights took advantage of some York discombobulation on defense.
In the second half, York kept the pressure on and went up 3-1 when Riley struck again for his 5th goal of the season. York's leading scorer found a gap in the Knight defense, and poked home the insurance tally.
Cooper wrapped up the scoring with his second of the season, making his way through the Noble defense.
The final score of 4-1 was indicative of the energy and effort the 'Cats put forth in the game. Rewards were aplenty for the 2-5 Wildcats.
